Compassion.Coach Participant Terms of Service

Effective Date: September 30, 2026

These Participant Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern participation in Compassion.Coach courses, coaching, assessments, online programs, certificates, live events, workshops, peer-development activities, websites, and related services (“Services”).

By registering for, purchasing, accessing, or participating in a Compassion.Coach Service, you agree to these Terms and the Compassion.Coach Privacy Policy.

1. The Compassion.Coach Services

Compassion.Coach provides educational and developmental services that may include:

  • online courses;
  • live courses and workshops;
  • multi-session programs;
  • peer or dyadic learning;
  • individual and group coaching;
  • psychometric assessments;
  • self-reflection activities;
  • pre-program and post-program assessments;
  • live events;
  • lectures and presentations;
  • experiential exercises;
  • participant materials;
  • certificates and certification programs; and
  • related educational and developmental resources.

Different programs may have additional requirements. Program-specific terms presented during registration form part of your agreement with Compassion.Coach.

If program-specific terms conflict with these Terms, the more specific program terms control for that program.

2. Educational and Developmental Purpose

Compassion.Coach programs are designed for education, professional development, self-development, leadership development, and the development and practice of compassion-related competencies.

Compassion.Coach does not provide psychotherapy, psychiatric treatment, medical diagnosis, medical treatment, emergency mental-health services, or legal advice through its ordinary educational programs.

Participation in a course, assessment, coaching activity, or certificate program does not establish a therapist-patient, physician-patient, or other licensed healthcare relationship unless a separate written agreement expressly states otherwise.

If you are experiencing a medical or mental-health emergency, contact an appropriate emergency or healthcare service rather than relying on Compassion.Coach.

3. Psychometric Assessments

Some Services include psychometric assessments, questionnaires, or structured measures.

These tools are intended to support learning, development, self-understanding, program evaluation, and authorized research.

Assessment results should be understood in context. Scores represent measurements of particular constructs using particular methods at a particular time. They are not complete descriptions of a person.

Unless expressly designated and validated for another purpose, Compassion.Coach assessments and reports are not authorized for:

  • psychological or psychiatric diagnosis;
  • medical diagnosis;
  • employment selection;
  • hiring or termination;
  • promotion or compensation decisions;
  • disciplinary decisions;
  • insurance underwriting;
  • disability determinations; or
  • other high-stakes decisions about an individual.

Participants should not use another person's Compassion.Coach results for such purposes.

Psychometric and developmental information is handled in accordance with the Compassion.Coach Privacy Policy.

4. Participant Control of Assessment Information

Payment for a program by an employer, university, healthcare organization, team, or other sponsor does not automatically give that sponsor access to a participant's identifiable psychometric results.

Compassion.Coach may provide sponsors with administrative information such as registration, attendance, completion, or certification status and may provide aggregated or de-identified program outcomes.

Identifiable assessment results will be shared with a sponsor only where the participant has been appropriately informed and has authorized the disclosure, or where disclosure is otherwise permitted or required by law.

5. Participation Is Voluntary

Some Compassion.Coach activities encourage reflection, discussion, self-disclosure, peer conversation, or interpersonal exercises.

You control what you choose to disclose, subject to any information reasonably required to administer the program.

You may decline a particular voluntary exercise or question. Depending on the nature of the program, declining a required component may affect eligibility for a certificate or completion designation, but we will not require unnecessary personal disclosure as a condition of ordinary participation.

6. Peer, Dyadic, and Group Programs

An important part of some Compassion.Coach programs involves interaction with another participant or group.

Participants agree to treat personal information disclosed by other participants with respect and confidentiality and not to record, publish, distribute, or exploit another participant's personal story, assessment information, or statements without permission.

Compassion.Coach may establish additional community or confidentiality expectations for particular programs.

Because participants are independent individuals, Compassion.Coach cannot guarantee that another participant will comply with confidentiality expectations.

Participants should exercise appropriate judgment concerning what they disclose to peers.

7. Registration and Eligibility

You agree to provide accurate and current registration information.

Compassion.Coach programs are generally intended for participants who are at least 18 years old.

A program may expressly allow minors to participate. Where required, a parent, legal guardian, school, or other authorized person must provide appropriate permission before a minor participates.

Registration may be made by a participant or by an employer or other sponsor on the participant's behalf.

8. Program Attendance and Completion

Participants are responsible for attending scheduled sessions and completing requirements described for the applicable program.

Certificate or certification programs may require specified attendance, coursework, assessments, exercises, partner meetings, demonstrations of competency, or other completion requirements.

A Compassion.Coach certificate documents completion of the requirements identified for that program. Unless expressly stated otherwise, it does not constitute professional licensure, governmental certification, authority to practice medicine or psychotherapy, or authorization to represent oneself as a licensed healthcare professional.

Continuing-education, CME, CEU, academic-credit, or professional-credit eligibility applies only when expressly stated for the particular program.

9. Live Events

Live programs may be held at venues operated by third parties.

Participants agree to follow reasonable venue safety requirements and lawful instructions from Compassion.Coach personnel and venue staff.

Participants are responsible for their own travel, lodging, transportation, personal belongings, and related expenses unless a program expressly states otherwise.

Compassion.Coach may make reasonable changes to instructors, schedules, exercises, locations, formats, or program components when necessary, provided the overall program remains substantially consistent with the service purchased.

10. Transfers, Cancellations, and Refunds

For Compassion.Coach live events and programs, a participant may cancel and receive a refund of eligible program fees when the cancellation request is received at least 20 calendar days before the applicable event or the first scheduled live date of a multi-session program, unless a different cancellation policy was clearly disclosed at the time of purchase.

Cancellations received fewer than 20 calendar days before the event or program start are generally non-refundable.

Compassion.Coach may, in its discretion, permit a participant to transfer registration to another eligible participant or a later program. Any transfer must be approved by Compassion.Coach and may be subject to program availability.

Failure to attend, partial attendance, or failure to complete a program does not ordinarily create a right to a refund.

Any different refund, transfer, promotional, or group-purchase terms clearly disclosed during registration control for that purchase.

11. Cancellation or Rescheduling by Compassion.Coach

Compassion.Coach may cancel, postpone, relocate, or convert a program between in-person and online delivery when reasonably necessary because of safety, venue availability, instructor illness, insufficient enrollment, natural disaster, government action, public emergency, transportation disruption, or circumstances beyond reasonable control.

If Compassion.Coach cancels a paid program and does not provide a reasonably equivalent rescheduled or replacement program, participants will be offered a refund of applicable program fees paid to Compassion.Coach.

Except where required by law, Compassion.Coach is not responsible for independently purchased airfare, lodging, transportation, lost wages, or similar expenses arising from a program change or cancellation.

12. Participant Conduct

Participants agree to interact with instructors, staff, partners, and other participants in a manner consistent with a safe and productive educational environment.

Compassion.Coach may remove or suspend a participant for conduct including:

  • harassment;
  • threats;
  • discrimination prohibited by law;
  • persistent disruption;
  • unauthorized recording;
  • disclosure of another participant's confidential information;
  • misuse of assessment materials;
  • fraudulent activity;
  • misuse of another participant's account;
  • conduct creating a material safety risk; or
  • substantial violation of these Terms.

Where reasonably practicable, Compassion.Coach may first provide notice and an opportunity to correct the conduct.

Serious misconduct may result in immediate removal. A participant removed for material misconduct may not be entitled to a refund.

13. Photography and Recording

Compassion.Coach may photograph or record portions of live or online programs when participants have received appropriate notice.

Participants may not independently record private coaching, partner discussions, assessment debriefs, or other participants without authorization.

Compassion.Coach will not intentionally use private assessment sessions or confidential coaching conversations for promotional purposes without appropriate permission.

When an identifiable participant's image, voice, testimonial, or likeness will be used for promotional advertising beyond ordinary event documentation, Compassion.Coach may obtain a separate media release or other appropriate authorization.

14. Intellectual Property

Compassion.Coach programs may contain copyrighted or proprietary materials, including:

  • curricula;
  • videos;
  • presentations;
  • exercises;
  • workbooks;
  • assessments;
  • assessment reports;
  • scoring systems;
  • instructional materials;
  • facilitator materials;
  • graphics;
  • software; and
  • other educational content.

Compassion.Coach and its licensors retain their respective intellectual-property rights in these materials.

Your purchase or participation provides a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use program materials for the purposes for which they were provided.

Unless Compassion.Coach gives written permission, you may not reproduce, sell, publish, commercially distribute, upload, systematically copy, scrape, reverse engineer, create unauthorized derivative training programs from, or provide substantial portions of Compassion.Coach materials to third parties.

Nothing in these Terms prevents participants from using the knowledge and skills they learn in their own lives and work.

15. Assessment Security

Participants may receive assessment results for their own developmental use.

Certain assessment items, scoring information, algorithms, norms, facilitator materials, or interpretation materials may be protected by copyright, licensing restrictions, professional standards, or test-security requirements.

Access to personal assessment information therefore does not necessarily include a right to obtain protected scoring keys, proprietary algorithms, secure test materials, or third-party intellectual property.

16. Participant Content

You retain the rights you otherwise have in original material you submit to Compassion.Coach.

You grant Compassion.Coach the limited rights reasonably necessary to receive, store, process, display, and use that material to provide the Services you requested and for the purposes described in the Privacy Policy.

Submitting private reflections, journals, or assessment responses does not give Compassion.Coach an unrestricted promotional license to publish them.

Testimonials, photographs, stories, or other material specifically submitted for public or promotional use may be governed by a separate authorization or release.

17. Research

Program participation and research participation are not necessarily the same thing.

Compassion.Coach may use appropriately de-identified or aggregated information for assessment validation, program evaluation, benchmarking, psychometric research, and improvement as described in the Privacy Policy.

Research requiring additional identifiable information or participant involvement may be subject to separate informed-consent procedures.

Compassion.Coach will not intentionally identify individual participants in research publications without appropriate authorization.

18. Third-Party Services

Compassion.Coach may use third parties to support functions such as event registration, payment processing, videoconferencing, assessment administration, hosting, communications, or scheduling.

Use of an independently operated third-party service may also be governed by that provider's terms and privacy policy.

Compassion.Coach is not responsible for an independent third party's products or services except to the extent required by applicable law or a separate agreement.

19. No Guaranteed Outcome

Compassion.Coach uses evidence-informed approaches and may measure participant outcomes, but individual results vary.

We do not guarantee that participation will produce a particular psychological, professional, organizational, financial, health, employment, relationship, or other outcome.

Statements concerning research findings or prior participant outcomes describe findings or experiences and are not guarantees of an individual participant's results.

20. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Services and program materials are provided for educational and developmental purposes and are provided on an “as available” basis.

Except for warranties that cannot legally be excluded, Compassion.Coach disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Nothing in these Terms excludes consumer protections or warranties that applicable law does not permit us to disclaim.

21. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Compassion.Coach will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential damages resulting from use of the Services.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Compassion.Coach's aggregate liability arising from a paid Service will not exceed the amount paid to Compassion.Coach for the Service giving rise to the claim during the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

These limitations do not apply where prohibited by law and do not limit liability that legally cannot be limited, including liability arising from fraud, willful misconduct, or other liability that applicable law makes non-waivable.

22. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to be responsible for claims or losses arising from your unlawful use of the Services, your material violation of these Terms, your infringement of another person's rights, or content you provide without having the right to provide it.

This section does not require a consumer to indemnify Compassion.Coach for Compassion.Coach's own unlawful conduct.

23. Privacy

The Compassion.Coach Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms.

Development & Assessment Data receives the additional protections described in that Policy.

24. Suspension or Termination

Compassion.Coach may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect participants, protect the Services, investigate fraud or security concerns, comply with law, or respond to a material violation of these Terms.

Termination does not eliminate rights or obligations that by their nature should continue after termination, including intellectual-property protections, confidentiality obligations, limitations of liability, and payment obligations already incurred.

25. Changes to These Terms

Compassion.Coach may modify these Terms to reflect changes in our programs, technology, business operations, or legal obligations.

Material changes will apply prospectively unless immediate application is required by law or necessary to protect security.

The effective date at the beginning of these Terms identifies the current version.

26. Governing Law

Except where applicable consumer or privacy law requires otherwise, these Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Any dispute not otherwise resolved between the parties may be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction in California, subject to any venue or jurisdiction rights that applicable law gives the participant.

Nothing in these Terms limits non-waivable consumer rights.

27. Severability and No Waiver

If a provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect to the extent permitted by law.

Failure by Compassion.Coach to enforce a provision on one occasion does not waive its right to enforce that provision later.

28. Entire Agreement

These Terms, the Privacy Policy, the applicable registration information, and any program-specific terms presented at purchase constitute the agreement concerning the participant's use of that Service.

29. Contact

Questions concerning these Terms, cancellations, transfers, or Compassion.Coach programs may be submitted through Compassion.Coach.

Privacy-related requests should be directed through the privacy contact identified in the Compassion.Coach Privacy Policy.
